Elephants are charismatic, formidable, larger than life. They are contagious, infecting people’s imagination. Elephants have spread across the globe, even in places they never physically roamed. They can be religious figures, famous fictional characters, urban graffiti, and political symbols. We suspect that in every country we can find a representation of an elephant. And in each country the forms that elephants take will be culturally variable.
This initiative seeks to create a geography of elephant iconographs – an eleconography!
